Dear Deagles (combination of the words Decathlete and Eagle):
Here is a list of essential questions you should be able to answer upon finishing the book:
1. Who kills Madame Defarge?
2. How many times in the book is Charles Darnay imprisoned in the book?
3. Why was Dr. Manette imprisoned in the Bastille for 18 years?
4. What serves as evidence that Dr. Manette goes mad again at the end of the story?
5. Who does Carton blackmail to gain access to Charles Darnay?
6. How does Jerry Cruncher help Sydney Carton/Darnay near the end of the story?

ReplyDeleteD I just finished the book! The ending surprised me, it was really depressing, I wanted him to live! But i guess not all stories can end with everyone miraculously escaping.
ReplyDelete1) Miss Pross! I loved this part, I like Miss Pross's strength, and Defarge finally got what was coming to her.
2)He was imprisoned 3 times. The first time was when he was in court- and also first introduced. The next was when he went to France trying to save Gabelle. The last was when the Defarges denounced him and Doctor Manette's letter was read.
3)He was going to write a letter telling of what he witnessed at the Evremondes' home. The older twin brother had raped a peasant girl and then they killed her brother. This peasant family had turned out to be Madame Defarge's family, which is why she wants Darnay to be killed.
4) Manette starts asking about his bench and tools so that he can make shoes, showing that he reverted back to the state he was at when Lucie first met him.
5)Carton blackmailed Miss Pross's brother Solomon, aka John Barsad, a spy.
6)I didn't understand exactly what he did, but he stopped the carriages from returning to Lucie and Darnay's house.
1) Ms. Pross
ReplyDelete2) Two times
3) For threatening to bare witness if the rape if a young girl by an aristocrat
4) Dr. Manete begins to look for his eorkers bench to continue making shoes
5) Ms. brother Solomon a spy
